Milestone Management
PMviz is not a planning tool, but it allows the key output of the planning process to be captured - milestones. It provides tight management controls and reporting to be placed around them to ensure all plan changes are properly impact assessed.

PMviz allows milestones to be created under elements of the programme/portfolio structure. They are allocated a 'management level' that determines the level of visibility it will have in the PMviz status reports. PMviz has four management levels, which allow milestones which might only be relevant at the lowest level of management to be distinguished from those that need to be reported at the higher levels. The management level also determines who has the authority to change the milestone's baseline dates.
PMviz highlights slipped or overdue milestones and prompts for overdue ones to be updated. A RAG indicator (Red/Amber/Green) can be assigned to the milestone to reflect its status, and any other relevant comments added to it.
Milestones also form the basis of dependencies from one programme element to another. See Dependency Management for further information on this functionality.
